Listen to Your Pain

When is the time right to see a chiropractor for your pain?

When we experience low back pain for any length of time, the message is loud and clear: something is not working optimally. Pain efficiently acts as a tool to slow us down or to stop an activity that puts us in harm’s way. Listen to your pain as it’s the body’s way of communicating with you.

Most low back pain will subside in one to two weeks, but if the pain continues or worsens, then it’s time to seek professional help.

Pay Attention to These Danger Signs

  • Back pain accompanied by loss of bowel or bladder control. This is a medical emergency and requires immediate action!
  • Back pain accompanied by abdominal or stomach pain with or without blood in the urine. Seek help as soon as possible!
  • Back pain in the presence of a cancer history. Check with your oncologist as soon as possible to rule out the possibility of metastases.
  • Back pain accompanied by a progressive loss of strength or weakness. Seek care immediately for an appropriate workup.
  • Back pain accompanied by numbness or tingling in the lower extremities. This pain can be a sign of disc injury, such as herniation. The good news is that this type of injury responds very well to chiropractic care.
  • Back pain that follows a traumatic incident needs investigation sooner rather than later to rule out a fracture.
  • Back pain that continues to worsen, even after trying home remedies and rest. This is the time to have a chiropractic evaluation.

Chiropractic excels in the treatment of low back pain! If you’ve been suffering from discomfort for more than two weeks, let us find the cause and eliminate it, as well as your pain.
